“I have been studying in Turkey for a year and I chose to talk about the experience of exam period. The reason I want to talk about this is because the exam period in Libya is different from Istanbul.”
Exam period in my home country
“I studied Dental Technology in Libya, which is a medical and scientific specialization. Now I study English language education, which is a literary specialty. The university experience for me was completely different in terms of being in a new country. Unlike the exam period in Libya, the student in Istanbul is given plenty of time to study for the exams, . In Libya, even one day before the exam, the institute might inform us about more assignments and projects, which gives zero time for the students to prepare at all. For this reason, there was pressure on the students unlike in Istanbul.”
My studying routine
Sundus says, “During the university exams in Istanbul, I usually prefer to study alone and not with anyone in order to focus, but projects that require me to work in groups are no problem for me as well.
In order to prepare for the university exams in Istanbul, I like to study in the morning, because in the morning I am more productive, and I am able to concentrate as well. If I have a lot of time to prepare, I prefer studying in the university library. Libraries offer calm environments, and it provides all the things I need to focus on. Also, I do not prefer studying in libraries that are outside the university.
Have fun while you study
People always tell me that Istanbul is a country full of activities. The question is, as a student, do you get distracted by activities? In my case, I have a goal here in Istanbul that is to complete my studies, therefore these activities do not distract me. Of course, once I find free time, I try to go on holiday and participate in various activities to discover the city as well. The only thing which makes it harder for me to concentrate is my phone, so I try to keep it far away from me while studying for university exams.”
Tips for studying
Finally, I would like to share with you the organization of my time during the examination period and some tips:
1- Try to wake up early and start studying in the morning.
2- Prepare breakfast, study,
3-Take a nap, have coffee, and complete the rest of the studies of the day.
This routine helps me a lot during the exam period.
After the exams, you can make a plan for a holiday in order to reward yourself and so you can look forward to something as well.
