Formally established in 2013, Girne University received accreditation from the TRNC’s Ministry of National Education and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation Accreditation and Coordination Council (YODAK). This marked the beginning of the pursuit of excellence in education.

Initially utilizing facilities from Near East University, Girne University swiftly moved to its expansive 2.7-hectare seaside campus in Karakum, Kyrenia.
