Five benefits of travel, where did this sentence come from? Waad says, “There are verses of poetry by Imam Al-Shafi’ee, who says that you can only acquire knowledge and experience if you travel outside your homelands. For in travel there are five benefits: relief of adversity, earning of livelihood, gaining of knowledge, learning etiquette, and noble companionship.”
“After years of leaving my country and coming to Turkey to study, these verses really express the reality of traveling and how to achieve the five benefits of traveling. My personality has changed completely as I have become a more social person because here you deal with different kinds of people of various nationalities. This has increased my self-confidence and gained many experiences, and my responsibilities have increased as well.
Stumble on the road while traveling
During the period of trying to settle in a new country, you will stumble on the road and encounter many opinions and perspectives that are different from what you grew up on. Another factor that helps not to deviate from the right path is the supervision of the parents, but not the strict supervision that gives them the freedom to discover life while traveling.
On my journey, I passed by people who changed for the better and people who changed for the worse, and the separation between them was what I mentioned above in my words.”
Passion and hobbies
She further adds, “As for me, and defining my passion, it was not difficult for me, and when I started studying the major that I dreamed of at the university, my passion increased. The university has influenced me a lot in pursuing my dreams and not giving up.
I was also able to practice my favorite talent, which is horse riding. At first, I had difficulty because there were no places where I could practice my talent, but after a search, I finally found a place, and now I am practicing my talent with ease.
Also, I tried new things that I did not imagine trying before and traveled to many places in Turkey. I made many beautiful memories from these new experiences. My relationship with the kitchen increased due to my self-reliance, and I cook many dishes that I love, such as Musakhan, Maqluba, and Palestinian dishes.”
It’s not just five benefits of traveling
In the end, I would like to say and advise the girls who want to study in Turkey to go for their decision and not be afraid. Turkey is a Muslim country. You will practice your religious beliefs with ease because Turkey is not only as it appears in soap operas. It is a safe country for women from all religious backgrounds.
She concludes that, “My advice to all young individuals is that do not worry as they will become strong, responsible, and self-reliant when the time comes. The experience of traveling and studying in Turkey is worthwhile.”
